Bond’s much-awaited Memoirs will debut next year.Some of his best works include ‘The Blue Umbrella’, ‘The Eyes are not Here’, ‘A Face in the Dark and other Hauntings’, ‘Funny Side up, ‘A Flight of Pigeons’ and ‘The Lamp is Lit’.He has published several pieces of work since then including non-fiction stories, supernatural fiction, short stories, autobiographies, poems, essays and children’s books.He was awarded the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize for the same in 1957. The book, which was semi-autobiographical, was based on an Anglo-Indian boy called Rusty. He wrote his first novel, ‘The Room on the Roof’ at the age of 17 in London.He was awarded the Sahitya Academy Award in 1992, Padma Shri in 1999 and Padma Bhushan in 2014 for his immense contribution to the growth of children’s literature in India.Indian Author of British descent, Ruskin Bond lives in Landour, Mussoorie with his adopted family.
